英語英米文学専攻 【博士（前期・後期）課程】の概要

高度な国際感覚と英語力で活躍できる人に

• 本専攻は英文学・日英文化交流、アメリカ文学、英語学の分野にわたって学ぶことができます。英文学・日英文化交流、アメリカ文学では古典的な作品から現代の英語圏作家や日英交流史まで、英語学では英語学・英語教育学・翻訳学・英国との関係に焦点をあてた日本の国際関係を研究できます。ドイツ文学・フランス文学の講義もあり、広く欧米言語文化を視野に入れたカリキュラムを提供しています。授業はすべて少人数で、ディスカッションと発表を通じて自己表現能力を養うことができます。指導教員による丁寧な指導、博士前期・後期課程の一貫した教育によって、国際的な視野と優れた研究能力、高い英語運用能力を育成します。

English Linguistics, English Literature, and American Literature Courses (MA and PhD)

• Our course offers postgraduate programs in English Literature, American Literature, English Linguistics, and UK-Japan Cultural Exchange. In the fields of English Literature and American Literature, students carry out research on the classics of British and American literature and the works of modern writers. In the field of English Linguistics, students carry out research into English linguistics, English education, and translation studies. In the field of U.K.-Japan Cultural Exchange, students carry out research on Japan’s International Connections with a focus on the U.K. We also offer German and French Literature to enhance our curriculum by taking into account American and European language cultures. All classes are small-group lessons with an emphasis on discussion and presentations to allow students to develop their skills in self-expression. With carefully planned guidance by advisers and a consistent system of research and education throughout the Master's and Doctoral courses, we cultivate international perspectives, excellent research abilities, and a high-level of English proficiency.

For prospective students for our graduate course

• The graduate course of English Languages and Literatures welcomes applications from qualified students who have finished a bachelor's degree and are interested in continuing their studies in the fields of English Literature, American Literature, English Linguistics or UK-Japan Cultural Exchange. Please check our faculty profiles for further information on the specializations of each faculty member.
  
  International students who are interested in applying to the graduate school of English Languages and Literature are encouraged to apply through requesting an application package, filling out the required documents and sitting for a preliminary interview prior to the entrance examination itself. The application materials are in Japanese only and a working knowledge of Japanese is essential to beginning your studies. Examinations are held twice per year, in August and in January or February, based on the annual academic calendar. The application package must be returned in May for the summer examination and October for the winter examination. Please check the schedule carefully to ensure you meet the application deadlines.
